Away from home usually means away from my blog.....I miss my daily time here for what ever reason I'm not sure.
It was a great visit to Gastonia. Getting up at 5:15 yesterday morning was not my cup of tea but once I got moving I arrived at Stefanie's by 7:30 as needed. The kids and I headed to the stores after breakfast and they made their purchases to fill 4 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. We spent over an hour in the store as both Emmy and Brian carefully considered their choice of toys and gifts for the kids so far away who have nothing. This outing has become an annual event for the three of us and I love it! Both wrote personal messages to the recipients and they touched my heart. Brian actually included directions on how to use the slinky he had chosen to include in the boxes for fear the little boy in a foreign land might need that vital information (he's probably right!).
I headed to Janice's in the afternoon and accompanied her to Charlotte for a doctor appointment. Olivia needed to see a pediatric orthopedist about the slight turn in her foot...the doctor was timely and personable and assured Janice there was no serious issues and all would be well.....sigh of relief! We left for home and later rejoined Stefanie and family for pizza night. It was a fun time with all.
I spent the night at Janice's.....the kiddies had preschool in the morning so we shopped a little and at noon I go back on the road for Good News. Volunteers were scarce again today so the adult to child ratio was 15 or so to 1! The time passed though and songs were sung, scripture verses were memorized and recited, prayer requests taken, bathroom trips were made, snacks were distributed and kids were loaded into cars. Ugh!
Tuna sandwiches, a hike with the girls, the Biggest Loser and now some time to spend with my sweet husband.....
God's amazing grace has given me 2 blessed days....I ask Him to keep me ever mindful of His gifts.....
