Pew Time......

6:20 a.m. is tooooo early to get up on a Sunday morning. But....we did, and the four of us were seated in our pew for 8:00 a.m. service. The boys behaved well although I'm sure they were antsy. Thomas could have been in the older Sunday School class but I kept him with Tanner and I in my 4 and 5 year old group and all was fine.

Back home shortly after 10:00 and although we had planned a morning walk the temperature was still hovering in the high 30's so we abandoned that idea for inside pursuits. Time to head back up the road arrived quickly and by mid-afternoon they were returned to their parents care and we had a peaceful and quiet ride down the interstate. A stop or two and we were back by the fire relaxed for awhile in the recliners.

Soon enough though it was time for evening service. The old hymnal in hand we sang a number of Christmas favorites and enjoyed a thought provoking message from the Pastor. He spoke of our Christmas expectations and motivations. A fairly typical topic with an unusual twist.....if Christmas spirit and joy is found lacking....look inside and look to the Lord. What can we bring to the King on His birthday....the gospel to others, our heart and our worship. What do we really want for Christmas? What would bring us true and lasting joy? This is the one question I can easily answer.....I pray for the confidence in the salvation of those I love. What more is there?

Dinner at 7:30 is just a little too late for me....it just sits in my tummy. Maybe some walking on the treadmill...we'll see.....
