Most people would celebrate their wedding anniversary with a romantic day together followed by a candlelight dinner in a fancy restaurant. Not us. We were up at the crack of dawn yesterday and sitting in the urologists office by 8 a.m.. Thom had scheduled his cystoscopy to coincide with our 15 year celebration....oh well. The doctor promised a quick procedure and minimal after effects and he was true to his word. We did get the best present..... clear and clean test results.
Home by noon Thom napped a bit but before long perceived a problem. By 7:30 we were on our way to the emergency room with Thom doubled over in excruciating pain....it was awful. After finally being treated and getting relief we were informed that his prostate had apparently become "irritated" by the procedure and was inflamed and enlarged enough to totally restrict flow through his urethra. Three liters of fluid were drained! 11:30 p.m. we returned home exhausted . Thom now has a catheter till Monday allowing time for his gland to return to normal and his "flow" to begin again.
Most people would celebrate their birthday with a romantic day with their husband followed by a candlelight dinner in a fancy restaurant. Not me. I was up at the crack of dawn again. At that point Thom had spent the night in the recliner and was doing fine. I set off for an 8:00 a.m. breakfast with friends at a local restaurant to celebrate Alexia's birthday (we share the day). It was a surprise and about 20 CPC ladies were there for good food and sweet fun. I headed for home with a stop at the pharmacy. Plans were to get on the road to Gastonia for a day with the grands and dinner at my moms. That didn't happen either. Thom developed a few possibly worrisome issues and we stayed close to home. Contacting the doctor gave us some peace of mind but he is restricted to inactivity for a day or so and we'll see the urologist on Monday. Currently he is feeling okay just uncomfortable as expected from the catheter.
Leftovers for dinner and off to bed in a few minutes.
So much for special occasions at Camp Carney.....
